ARISTON was founded in 1930 by Aristide Merloni, Italy. Originally manufacturing weight scales ARISTON quickly diversified to manufacturing domestic appliances such as: cooktops, hot water systems, and liquid gas cylinders. In 1960, ARISTON launched a laundry and dish washing machines along with the Unibloc oven which won the prestigious “Gold Compass Award”, Italy’s highest honor in Industrial design and manufacturing.

ARISTON Appliances came to Australia sometime around 2000 in a partnership with Harvey Norman which own 51% of the Ariston appliances distribution business. Ariston became the envy of the cooking suppliers, with news that the company’s ovens and cooktops were to be used for the series of MasterChef after the company signed up Gary Mehigan on the show to endorse the products.
